Making our Clinic COVID-19 Secure

We have all been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and your safety is of upmost importance to us while you are undergoing treatment in Panama. We understand that you may have concerns about travelling to us for treatment at this time, so here are all the measures we have in place to keep you, our other valued patients and our staff safe.

Entry to Panama

You are required to provide a negative PCR test taken no more than 48 hours before travel. If for any reason you are unable to get your test results, then you can take a test at the airport at a cost of $50USD. We recommend that you do have a negative result prior to travel as a positive result will require quarantine in a designated quarantine hotel. If you have been in the UK or South Africa in the 20 days prior to travel to Panama you will be refused entry, as visitors from those areas are currently suspended.

COVID-19 Testing at the clinic

All patients are required to take a lateral flow test on arrival for the first appointment. You will be shown to a designated room where a member of staff in full PPE will take a swab and you will get your results in 15 minutes. Our staff are tested twice a week to ensure we keep our clinic COVID-19 free. On that first appointment you will have a scan and date for egg retrieval will be scheduled. If the egg retrieval takes place in the next 48 hours then you do not need to take another COVID-19 test until embryo transfer. Each room you enter will be deep cleaned in between each patient.

As there will be between 3-5 days before embryo transfer and we want you to enjoy all that Panama has to offer, you will be required to take another lateral flow test prior to the procedure. We encourage you to exercise the same caution as you would at home with regard to wearing of face masks, regular hand washing and social distancing.

COVID-19 Vaccination

If you are offered a vaccination, we encourage you to have this before you embark on fertility treatment. There is no scientific evidence to support any of the social media claims that vaccination will impact your fertility. However, we do know that contracting Covid-19 while pregnant puts an even bigger strain on your body and your unborn baby. Therefore, a vaccination means that you can significantly reduce your chance of serious illness from the virus.

Even if you are vaccinated you are still required to take Covid tests for your appointments at the clinic. At present there is no evidence that vaccination means you can’t transmit the virus, so by constantly testing we can keep our unit as Covid secure as possible.

Your financial coordinator will happily advise you on when your tests will take place and arrange a test for your departure.
