Egg Freezing
Our advanced egg freezing technique, also known as oocyte vitrification, offers you the opportunity to protect your reproductive options for the future.
¿Why should I freeze my eggs?
From the age of 35 onwards, one in six women who decide to have children will encounter some kind of difficulty in achieving it. By freezing your eggs, you gain the freedom to control your reproductive timeline. This allows you to pursue personal and professional goals without the worry of age-related fertility decline.
Certain medical conditions and treatments can affect fertility. Freezing your eggs before undergoing these procedures can help protect your fertility. And if you have not yet found the right partner or are not ready to start a family, this option offers you the opportunity to extend your fertility window.
What does egg freezing consist of?
After starting medication to stimulate your ovaries and help follicles mature for collection, you will be monitored to ensure your medication is having the desired effect and may be adjusted if you are over or under-stimulating. Once our fertility consultant at Panama Fertility confirms that the right number of follicles is achieved, we will schedule an appointment for the egg retrieval procedure. This procedure is relatively painless and is conducted under light sedation. Our fertility specialist collects the eggs using a fine catheter through the vaginal wall into the ovary with light suction.
The eggs are then frozen at -196º to ensure they remain young and in the best conditions, to enable women to decide when the best time is.

Why is egg freezing recommended?
- Patients at risk of losing their ovarian function: women who have been diagnosed with cancer who are going to be treated with chemotherapy or radiotherapy, autoimmune diseases which require chemotherapy, bone marrow transplants, and women at risk of needing repeated ovarian surgery, for example to treat endometriosis.
- When there is no medical indication, or for “social” reasons: women who decide to postpone motherhood for various reasons, or because their financial or work circumstances prevent them from having a child.
